Coming out of the recent Caribbean Investment Conference and Operations Summit held on November 13, 2024 it was disclosed that new hotels expected to come on stream from 2025 onwards in that island nation number more than six.

Conference attendees disclosed plans:

Hotel Indigo Barbados is currently under construction with 132 rooms, expected to open in early 2025.

The Blue Monkey Hotel and Beach Club is scheduled to open in March 2025 on the west coast.
The adults-only, all-inclusive resort Royalton Chic is expected to open in the spring of 2026 with 220 suites.

Pre-covid, Marriott decided that all-inclusive resorts should be a bigger part of its portfolio. In October 2019, it bought the Stock Market-listed Elegant Hotels Group for just over £100m. With net debt, the enterprise value was around £150m. Despite having most of its assets in Barbados, Elegant was UK based.

Elegant Hotels had seven properties on Barbados. The seven hotels had 588 rooms in total. They are Colony Club, Tamarind, The House, Crystal Cove, Turtle Beach, Waves Hotel & Spa and Treasure Beach.

The islands government statistical website indicates that for the month of September 2024, stay-over visitors to Barbados recorded 31,782 to the island which indicates a decline from the same period in the last year of 33,972. The largest number of stay-over visitors came from the USA with 11,053, a decrease of exactly 1,075 when compared to September 2023.

Visitors from the United Kingdom were recorded at 8,714, whilst those coming from CARICOM followed with 6,907. The fewest numbers of stay-over visitors came from Oceania and Other Countries for this month; 93 and 3 respectively.
