The beans are shiny with caffeol that ensures a smooth cup – not bitter, and with a lessened after-taste than a medium roast. Distinctive packaging also sets the roast as a standout, made with h white burlap with a black label.

“Customers must look for the words "Jamaican Blue Mountain " in the wording of what is purchased as well.’ Island Coffees explains on the site, “ the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is grown in the Blue Mountain region of Jamaica, in between Kingston mostly in the south and Port Maria in the north.

“Rising to 7,500 ft, the Blue Mountain Range is the highest point in the Caribbean, however the highest coffee growing regions range between 3000 ft – 5200 ft. This broad band consists of a cold, damp and dark, fertile soil and good drainage, providing ideal conditions for growing coffee.”

Be prepared for a higher price for the pure coffee. The Surtees say on their website, “A few companies have produced Blue Mountain coffee with the word Blend in it - the price is 1/2 of the 100 per cent Blue Mountain coffee and is very appealing to the consumer - however you will not be drinking pure Blue Mountain Coffee.”
