Onyx units now $55 million for one-bedroom

 





Realtors in Jamaica have placed on the market a new development on Wellington Drive in Liguanea Kingston 6, a multistory property for which apartments have asking price in the ballpark of J$J 55 million each.

The units are described as being located near Halfway Tree but are really situated in Liguanea.

Units at one point were listed at J$34 million each, when the development was in concept stage, however for the remaining units, the asking price is $55 million.

In total there are 48 units. YouTube videos featuring the model unit quoted the earlier price.

Construction companies, funders and developers have been complaining since covid of

higher construction prices and also supply chain difficulties which are very slow in changing.



The completed Onyx offers a variety of studio and 1-bedroom units, ranging from 604 to 1,100 square feet. For those desiring more space, 1-bedroom units can be converted into 2-bedroom layouts.

Each unit features premium porcelain tiles, pre-installed air conditioning, and water heaters.

Starting price for the multistorey units is US$255,246 each. On January 28 the US dollar was trading at J$156.28 to one J$1.

The owners on their website state, “Due to high demand, apartments at The Onyx are selling out rapidly.” Completion was scheduled for December 2024.

Amenities, include Rooftop Pool and Lounge, Running Trail, Fitness Center, 2 Elevators,2 Generators, Back up Water Supply and assigned parking.

The high rise apartment building is said to be minutes from shopping, hospitals, tertiary education, banking and restaurants.
