Limners and Bards hunts Caribbean talent for movies targeted at Netflix and other streaming platforms

Advertising and content development company Limners and Bards subsidiary, Scope Caribbean Limited (Scope), is currently engaged in the scouting, placement and management of talent while expanding and maintaining a database for ongoing movies under production and future projects in planning.

The company has expressed the hope that large movie streaming platforms including Netflix, will subscribe to Jamaican content which it hopes to deliver in the short, medium and long term.

Netflix is planning to set to invest US$18 billion in content in 2025—an 11 per cent increase from 2024. The appetite for fresh storytelling is expected to continue growing;

Management at Limner said in a March report, “Our slate is designed to align with this trend, ensuring strong commercial appeal and long-term market viability. Strategic partnerships are integral to our expansion. As a sponsor at NATPE Global 2025, we gained direct access to key buyers across North America, Latin America, and Europe, facilitating ongoing negotiations with major distributors and networks. This engagement is driving increased visibility and positioning our films for broader distribution.

Limners has developed a five in 25 content strategy with two of five planned films completed and active negotiations underway with buyers and distributors.

Limners said, “By tactically, timing our releases, we are maximizing visibility and revenue potential. Focusing on high-performing genres—Christmas and romance—ensures our productions cater to proven audience demand. Christmas films, in particular, remain a cornerstone of network and streaming lineups, offering strong licensing opportunities.

“Our upcoming Christmas film, starring Kimberly Patterson (BET’s Family Business) and Nick Creegan (SWAT, Law & Order), exemplifies our commitment to producing commercially viable, widely appealing content. Our films distinguish themselves through a unique Jamaican perspective, blending authentic storytelling with global marketability. This differentiation aligns with the increasing demand for fresh cultural narratives, strengthening our competitive edge in an evolving industry”
