Jamaica Information Service seeks new head
The Jamaica Information Service indicates that its Board is on the hunt for a new Chief Executive Officer. The contract of the former CEO, Enthrose Campbell, was not renewed after it expired on December 31.
Information Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon says Campbell, who served the agency for several years, rising through the ranks, had also reached retirement.
"She has been an integral part of the development of the Jamaica Information Service since the 1990s. And in recent years, she worked really hard to pivot JIS to the new realities of social media. The board of directors will lead the search for a new head of JIS to pick up and continue Enthrose Campbell's work."
With significant changes in the media landscape, Dr. Morris Dixon said JIS, like all other entities, "must pivot to provide relevant information in a form that is engaging and that can compete with all the other sources of information that are available today".
She said the current leadership of the organisation is fully capable of building on the gains made.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer is Celia Lindsay who currently has oversight of the agency.
The government announced the appointment of Enthrose Campbell as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Information Service, JIS as having taken effect on October 1, 2022.
Campbell, who previously served as Deputy CEO of the JIS, took over from Donna Marie Rowe, who departed during 2022.
Before her appointment, Campbell held several leadership roles across the JIS’ Radio, TV and Production Departments.
She led media management and coordination for State, Official and National events. She was a recipient of the Press Association of Jamaica’s awards for excellence in 2019 and was the Civil Servant of the Year in 2013.
